Over the years Ms. Skimin has helped hundreds of individuals and families get financial relief under the United States bankruptcy Code.  She has always represented her clients with passion and dedication, even in the most challenging times, when she lived in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.  In the face of disaster and tragedy, she managed to communicate with her clients scattered around the United States. Clients were her first priority in the aftermath of that monster storm.  Ms. Skimin was herself displaced to Chicago.During that time, she was in a constant contact with her clients monitoring the situation and reassuring them about their cases. Once everything went back to normal, Ms. Skimin returned to New Orleans as soon as it was safe to do so and made sure her clients’ interests were protected. She managed to climb on foot the 29 high rise floors to reach her downtown New Orleans offices, with no electricity and over a 100-degree F temperature. Her mission was to retrieve her clients’ pending files. Hurricane Katrina hit the great city of New Orleans on August 29, 2005; the new Bankruptcy law also known as BAPCPA entered into effect less than two months later on October 17, 2005.

Ms. Skimin also strives and excels in advising and helping foreign nationals navigate the US immigration system.
